Woot~! I finally watched Phantom of the Opera last night at the esplanade with Uncle Jeff and Sis! The effects are awesome, especially the scene at the underground tunnel where the Phantom brought Christine to his 'lair' in a boat - it really looked like water! There were a few freaky stuff though, like the manniquin which he dressed up as a bride to represent Christine. When he revealed the doll to her, it's torso suddenly dropped forward! Then can see the head following the movement of the phantom and Christine. Eeeeeeee~ The scene where the Phantom hung the props guy was also scary 'cos the body suddenly fell from the top with the rope attached to it, and the crew started screaming and running all over the place. Eeeeeeee~
The Phantom was like some sort of magician man! He kept disappearing in front of the crowd, and appearing at different places. It was so cool! For example, at the last scene, where the police were heading for his lair, he sat on his 'throne' and covered himself with a black cloth to hide. Then when this dancer removed the cloth, he wasn't there!!! Well, ok, so he didn't appear again after that since it was the end of the show, but you get the idea. Don't you?
The singing on the other hand, was not so good. I could barely make out the lyrics. Then there was this diva opera singer in the story who really sang opera. Ack. She basically drowned out the other singers voices when she sang with them. I was expecting the glass to break soon enough. =S
Overall, it was a great show. I throughly enjoyed myself. I felt so sympathetic for the Phantom, who felt that he was a freak of nature. Then when he told Christine to go and be with her fianc'e, waahh.. so heartbreaking man. Ahha.
Oh well, I shall stop going on and on about it. Toodles~
